Overview

in a nutshell

Lekzyne is currently my source of clients and overall web work; while I work as something of a partner with the company, the site is in development to become something very similar to my own, while maintaining a more professional tone.

Skills

how I did it

xhtml, css, php, mySQL, graphics

Software

what I used to do it

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, Adobe Fireworks CS3, phpMyAdmin

Design

aesthetic point of view

Previously, the Lekzyne logo was a hand-drawn graffiti-style image, and the site was very plain white text on a black background. The new site creates a much cleaner, more professional look while still maintaining the colors and styles from the original logo. The logo itself is not what I personally would have chosen, but the client is always right when they want something included. The transparent bar was added beneath it to add some modern shine to the logo, while the lightning-bolt-like lines coming from the center were a re-imagining of similarly colored lines on the original logo. The lines weave between the planes of the site, sometimes appearing on top of the bar, and sometimes below it, producing a very three-dimensional feel. This is continued by the transparency of the navigation tabs and content pane, which are made to appear raised off of the striped background.

Development

how it works

Lekzyne uses the same JACKED Manager version as other sites, but currently is only implementing the InfoPages module to display simple pages that are editable to site admins. A new JACKED module is in development initially for this site; the clients module will be used to post descriptions and specific examples of services provided to clients. Features that are being added in the initial release include using services as tags and displaying clients based on services selected, full page features of clients that are scalable to simple descriptions based on user definitions, and a featured client pool which will allow a widget to be placed anywhere on the site, randomly displaying basic data on one of the "featured clients" and a link to the full page.

Comments

my opinion

While the site is still partially in development (clients section), all features will be available, as much as is possible until completion. JACKED Manager will also be self-installing the soon-completed clients module, the first time that the JACKED module inclusion tool will be tested on a real site.
